A few lessons learnt along the way
- Life is unfair
Contrary to what the Declaration of Human Rights entails (All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights.
), we are all different and life and society don’t present the same opportunities to everyone. We are all physiologically different, come from different socio-economic environments, have different needs and desires, etc. Society and people will be unfair to you and sometimes there’s nothing you can do about it. But sometimes, life will be a bit fairer in your advantage. That’s how it is. But we don’t all need to be equal to be able to find happiness. The sooner you accept this, the better your life will be.
- Choose a game
Thomas Szasz stated that what humans really need in life is a game worth playing, rather than money, fame or esteem directly. People who do not have a game to play fall into accidie. What does this mean? A game is a set of rules and constraints with an objective. Some games in life are the game of money where you have to try and accumulate as much wealth and posessions in life or the game of science where your goal is to acquire the most knowledge and understanding of the world and the universe. Know which game(s) you are playing and decide if they are worth it. In any case, do have a game to play in life.

They know the best what’s up and what to do to not regret decisions in your life! To shape my life philosophy, I tried reading about what old people regret the most in their life).
